Magegedze is owned by Jabulile Khaba, who operates a takeaway food business and offers catering services. She received funding of R5000 to invest in additional business equipment.

Lebo Eatery is located at Thandukukhanya, they sell fast food and they were sponsored with an amount of R7500 to assist in their business.

Jabu's Best Cakes
Jabu's Best Cakes was sponsored with the total amount of R7500 and she bought a new oven and baking equipment.

Mandla Dladla
Mandla Dladla is based in Eziphunzini, where he specializes in installing floor tiles. He received funding of R7500,00 to purchase business equipment to enhance his services.

Cornerstone
Cornerstone was funded with R8000,00 to buy brick materials.

Manganyela Nsuku bush cutters
Manganyela Nsuku is a small gardening services company that was started in 2014 by Mr Thusi Vusumuzi. He offers gardening services of maintaining gardens of residential, churches and business premises. His services include clean-up, cutting, mowing, trimming and pest control. He has been able to hire 3 more individuals to assist him in his business. The business has a growing clientele around the Mkhondo community. He requested support from Vumbuka Trust to assist his gardening equipment. The trustees approved support of R10 000 to buy the requested items including 3 brush cutters and other gardening equipment. Basithathakancane Multi-Purpose Primary Cooperative
Basithathakancane Multi-Purpose Primary Cooperative is a small construction business that was started by a group of 9 young people at Rustplaas near Mkhondo. The company makes construction bricks as source their income. The group requested support from Vumbuka Trust for building material and tools to grow their business. The Vumbuka Trust trustees approved a grant for the small enterprise to buy the requested items. Vumbuka Trust aims to help grow small businesses in order to create job opportunities. Zazinto Construction and Projects – Piggery
Zazinto Zazinto Construction and Projects -Piggery was established in 2017 by Mr Zinto Nkosi from Thandukhanya location. He started a small piggery business with only a few pigs. The business has since blossomed in the past two years and he currently has over +50 pigs and piglets and poultry. He feeds and grows the pigs and slaughters them to sells the meat to potential butcheries and local markets around Piet Retief for income.

He applied to Vumbuka Trust 2019 for support and was supported by way of a guarantee for an R20 000 credit facility. The amount was to assist the business to buy a bigger refrigerator to store the slaughtered meat and to buy animal feed for the pigs. The business falls under the Vumbuka Trust Enterprise development support which aims to assist up and coming local Mkhondo entrepreneurs order to stimulate economic growth and create jobs given the high rate of unemployment. Start-up businesses are vital to helping drive our local economy forward. They create employment, increase production, expand markets and, most importantly, develop communities. Nkuxo Trading
It is estimated that the formal hairdressing industry in South Africa directly employs approximately 57,000 individuals. South Africa’s black hair care industry is estimated to be valued at R9.7 billion a year. In 2010, it was considered the largest in Africa, according to the Professional Hair Care Market SA 2010 report. Nkuxo Trading (Pty) Ltd hair salon was established by Mr Nkululeko Hadebe. The business has been operating for over 8 years in Thandukhanya location. His business has 4 employees working including the owner. They offer different services in the salon such as hair relaxer, braids, cut, wash, conditioning and dreadlocks.
The owner wanted to venture into the weave/hair selling business due to the high demand in the Piet Retief area. The organisation applied for support from Vumbuka Trust 2018 and he was supported by a guarantee for an R30 000 for a credit facility to buy hair weaves and extensions for their salon. The hair salon is currently generating income from hair extension sales and hairdressing. The salon creates weaves with the extension weaves and sells wigs to ladies locally. The weave prices range from R900-R5000 depending on the inches and texture of the hair. South Africa’s small business community is an important contributor to the national economy and accounts for 52% of the country’s GDP and helps create much-needed employment. Mr Raymond Ntuli Project
Mr Raymond Ntuli, a resident from the Commondale area, applied for funding from the Vumbuka Trust in 2017 and received access to a credit facility from TWK Agri (Pty) Ltd. The funds were used to buy chainsaws and other equipment for his forestry business. The Enterprise Development team went to visit his forestry site to see how he progressed in the business the past few months.
This ambitious businessman works under a sub-contractor and is currently harvesting timber in the Commondale area for Mkhondo Municipality. Mr Ntuli has created job opportunities and he has managed to employ a few residents in the area. Through his efforts, the youth and breadwinners are employed and can provide for their families. Small-scale Broiler Production Success
The Vumbuka Trust initiated two small-scale broiler production units as part of its Enterprise Development initiatives for the 2013/2014 financial year.
With the support from Vumbuka Trust and the TWK Agri Enterprise Development team that included the capital equipment, training, active support and mentorship, both beneficiaries managed to start a successful small agriculture business. Vumbuka Trust making, difference together.
